Woman marries dog in India

Of all the strange traditions that inhabit the world, one emerging from India has caught the attention of the world. A teenager is reported to have married a dog in a video that has appeared on YouTube and has since been reported by media across the globe. Not only did Mangli Munda, 18, from eastern India, marry the canine, the wedding was reportedly a lavish affair with over 50 guests.

Superstition and weird beliefs are behind the reason for the wedding, with reports claiming that the girl was told by village elders that marrying the dog would save her, her family and the community from an evil spell. The dog, identified as Sheru, arrived at the wedding in a chauffeur driven car.

The hesitant bride was quoted as saying in the Metro “I am marrying a dog because the village elders believe that my evil spell will be passed on to the dog. After that is done, the man I will marry will have a long life.” Oh, and this is not the first time that a local girl has wed a dog in the village.
