Teenage girl found hanging in jungle

INDIA: The parents of a teenage girl whose body was found hanging from a tree in a jungle in Manor of Palghar district last month have alleged rape and murder.

The 16-year-old girl worked in a brick kiln along with her parents. On February 25, the girl was allegedly taken away by four men. The parents, however, had not registered a police complaint. Her body was later found hanging in the jungle at Manor. The Manor police then registered a case of accidental death.

The parents have alleged that their daughter may have been gang raped by the men who forcibly took her away. They alleged that the girl may have been killed and left hanging on a tree.

The parents said that the body was discovered by some villagers who had gone to the jungle. The police are now awaiting the autopsy report to ascertain the cause of death and to know if the teen was sexually abused.
