Sri Lanka keen to work with India

President Maithripala Sirisena, in a message to the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, said he shares very much India’s desire to further strengthen the excellent bilateral relations between both countries.

Sirisena had sent the message in response to the message of congratulations sent by Mukherjee on Sirisena’s election as the President of Sri Lanka.

“I deeply appreciate your message of felicitation on my election as the President of Sri Lanka. India and Sri Lanka enjoy a deep and abiding relationship founded on ancient civilizational and cultural links, shared histories, close centuries-old people-to-people contact, complemented substantially by shared values of pluralism and democracy,” Sirisena said.

The Sri Lankan President is scheduled to visit India on February 15-18, 2015 at the invitation of the President of India.
