Mozilla releases Firefox 38 version

Mozilla has launched Firefox 38 with HTML5 DRM (Digital rights management support). According to the TechCrunch web site, the new browserFirefox 38 supports the Encrypted Media Extensions API on Windows desktop and automatically downloads the Adobe Content Decryption Module (CDM).

Users can now watch content from Netflix and similar services without having to deal with plug-ins like Microsoft’s Silverlight and Adobe’s Flash. Also, users can watch their videos without having to plug-ins and the security issues that comes with them because of a built-in DRM solution in the browser that works nicely with the HTML5 standard.

Netflix is already testing Firefox’s DRM solution to stream content to its subscribers. In addition, Mozilla has announced the launch of a separate Firefox download that will not automatically install Adobe’s technology for playing back DRM-wrapped content in the browser.
