Messi is the most talented player, says Vettel

F1 star Vettel took time out from his schedule to visit FIFA’s headquarters. The German is an avid football fan and was asked the eternal question of who is better.

And Vettel, who sits second in the F1 Drivers’ Championship and who has won the world title four times, sat on the fence.

“There are many reasons why Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have shared the best player award in the world in recent years,” the Ferrari driver said.

“It is extraordinary to maintain this consistency at the highest level.

“Who is the best? The question is not easy.

“Perhaps Messi is the most talented, while Ronaldo is the one who strives the most and is a more complete sportsman.”

Vettel last won the world championship back in 2013 when with Red Bull. One the past four years the Eintracht Frankfurt fan has seen Messi and Ronaldo share the spoils of Europe’s top trophies.

Messi’s Barcelona have won two La Liga titles, the Champions League and the World Club Cup since Vettel last claimed an F1 championship.
