Mahinda to appoint ‘electoral organizers’

Former president Mahinda Rajapaksa has decided to appoint organizers for all electoral divisions in order to form a separate alliance to contest the upcoming general election under his leadership, says NFF leader Wimal Weerawansa’s website lankacnews.

Most of these appointees will be MPs representing the UPFA, it says. Rajapaksa will definitely contest the election under the ‘chair’ or any other symbol.

Meanwhile, Rajapaksa’s spokesman Rohan Weliwita has told BBC Sandeshaya that the former president would contest the upcoming election even if the SLFP does not give him nominations.
