Olympiakos striker Alan Pulido, 25, was abducted after he left a party in Tamaulipas, Mexico today. Officials say he was forcibly taken by six masked gunmen in a horror raid after a vehicle cut him off on a motorway.
It comes days after the striker helped Olympiakos win the Greek Cup. The forward, who was part of Mexico’s 2014 World Cup team in Brazil, joined Olympiakos last summer.
He used to play for fellow Greek side Levadiakos and, before that, spent five years at Tigres UANL in his home country.
Police have launched a huge operation to find the player and at least two military-style helicopters have been seen flying over the Tamaulipas area today.
Tigres UANL said it is supporting Alan’s family “in the difficult situation they are experiencing”.
