Director Venkat Prabhu had lately admitted that Suriya’s role in his latest film Masssu Engira Massilamani will have grey shades to it, thus providing a new experience of sorts to Suriya fans.
Interestingly, it is now being revealed that the Mankatha director first approached Suriya with an entirely different script that would’ve portrayed him in an out and out negative role. According to the report, Venkat had planned a Tamil-Telugu bilingual with Suriya and Telugu star Ravi Teja in the lead. When Suriya was informed about his character, it is said that he didn’t want to feature in a film that would show him in bad light.
What’s more, Suriya had informed Venkat that these kind of roles would suit actors like Ajith or Vijay and that he is interested to work in a regular Venkat Prabhu flick with the usual fun elements that he brings to the table. Is this the reason why Venkat incorporated some negativity into Suriya’s character in Masss? If so, what’s with him and negative characters? Perhaps, the Goa director believes that heroes with negative shades can have a better impact on screen. Sample this, lead characters in almost all his movies have had some kind of villainous attributes.
If sources are to be believed then Suriya plays a local conman in Masss who somehow gets into the supernatural world of spirits and ghosts. Sounds interesting? If yes, get ready to pre-book the tickets as advance bookings will start from tomorrow. Stay tuned for further interesting updates on Masssu Engira Massilamani.
