Court orders notice to Rajinikanth and others

A civil court in Madurai has ordered that a notice be sent to Rajinikanth, director KS Ravikumar and producer Rockline Venkatesh, seeking an explanation in the Lingaa plagiarism issue.

Ravi Rathnam of Madurai had filed a petition at the Madurai High Court alleging that Lingaa is a copied work of his Mullai Vanam 999, a film that he had uploaded on Youtube a couple of years ago. The Madurai High Court dismissed the petition, stating that it is not the appropriate forum to approach as the jurisdiction lies with the civil court.

Following this, Ravi Rathnam filed a case at a Madurai civil court and the magistrate ordered Rajinikanth, KS Ravikumar, and Rockline Venkatesh to come up with an explanation. The matter has been posted for hearing on March 16th.
