Large swathes of Britain were today warned of icy conditions on the roads as temperatures plunged all the way down to -12C overnight. Motorists have been warned to take extra care on the roads as sleet and snow threatened to create slick conditions in the sub-zero weather.
And smartphone users were also advised that their batteries could drain faster than normal in the cold temperatures or even stop working. But forecasts suggest temperatures will improve towards the end of this week with 12C expected by Friday and double figures this weekend.
Meanwhile there are three flood warnings – all around the Winterborne area of Dorset – and 21 alerts across England and Wales still in place.
