Bruno Travalja, of Ridgewood, New Jersey, fell from the roof of a Midtown building on Thursday afternoon. The 52-year-old, who had a wife and three children, was working at the high-rise near 52nd Street and 6th Avenue.
He was on the roof of the 48-story building at the time of his fall and had knelt down to take measurements. Travalja was wearing a security harness but the harness was not tied off, a city official told the New York Daily News.
He stood up, lost his footing and fell over an 18-inch security barrier, authorities said. Travalja may have felt dizzy after getting back up, a preliminary police report stated.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. Travalja had gone up to the roof to complete a survey, the official said.
