Amazon 3D hologram smartphone to be unveiled today

A 3D smartphone set to rival Apple’s iPhone 6 is set to be launched later today. Online giant Amazon is expected to unveil the technology in an event which is gearing up to be the most anticipated event on the technology calender.

Experts are tipping the device to use four infrared cameras with an advanced retina tracking system to create a 3D or hologram effect. These reportedly track the position of the user’s face and eyes so if the owner tilts their head, they can see beyond the picture on the screen to hidden icons and images that appear to dangle in mid-air. The handset has taken three years to perfect and could be released to coincide with Apple’s hotly-anticipated iPhone 6.
