7 year old girl raped by principal for not paying fees in India

INDIA: A seven-year-old class II student was allegedly raped by her 37-year-old school principal in Chikhli town of Navsari district on Friday. Her mother lodged a complaint against the accused yesterday. 

Parsottam Dahya, a resident of Jalalpor in Navsari and principal of Chaitanya Vidyalaya in Chikhli, has been arrested. The accused is married and has a son. The rape survivor’s parents are labourers from Songadh in Tapi district. The girl was staying with her uncle in Chikhli so that she could study in the town. 

Her parents could not pay her school fees that had accumulated to Rs 3,000 over six months. The accused waspressurizing the girl’s parents to pay fees. He called the girl to his office and demanded the payment. When the girl said she did not have money, he dragged her to the bathroom and raped her, the complaint said. 

“The rape survivor is in shock and has minor injuries,” police inspector D K Patel said. The accused will soon be produced in court. The rape survivor has been taken to New Civil Hospital, Surat for medical examination.
